John Dailinger, who was a Private in Co. K, 29th Regiment, NY Volunteers, where he served for three years, from 5/20/1861 to 6/20/1863, when he was honorably discharged at New York by reason of expiration of service. While in service in the line of duty as soldier on May 3, 1863, in action at the Battle of Chancellorsville, Va, he received a gunshot wound in the left side passing out the breast, breaking several of his ribs.

First sent to Division Hospital. He was there several weeks, afterwards in USA Hospital on Hudson Street in New York for about a month.

Since discharge, he has resided in Philadelphia and his occupation before entering the service was that of a baker. He has not been in the military or naval service of the USA since his discharge therefrom on June 20th, 1863.
